Craving Real Connection in a Social Media World

I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted.
Exhausted with social media being the only way we’re told to get the word out—about our businesses, our passions, or in my case, my book.
For years, I’ve created content with the hope of helping people, sharing insights, and spreading important messages. And while social media has absolutely connected me with people I never would have found otherwise, lately it feels like a hamster wheel. The platforms shift, the algorithms change, AI complicates the landscape even more, and at the end of the day… I feel drained.
What’s worse is seeing my style copied years later, or deep psychological concepts repurposed as someone else’s “new” idea. This isn’t about jealousy—it’s about the sheer annoyance of trying to share something meaningful in a space that’s become so inundated, so loud, so fleeting.
What I’m Craving Instead
Depth of conversation.
The laughter of a board game around the table.
The quiet flow of watercoloring.
Sitting around the hangar telling airplane stories.
Simple, real, human connection.
But here’s the paradox: I’m six months away from launching my book. This is the season when I’m “supposed” to be louder, more visible, more present online than ever. And yet—my soul is telling me the opposite.
Returning to My Roots
When I wrote my first book, Teetering on Disaster, back in 2009, it didn’t even begin as a book. It started as an online blog—before “blog” was even a word—when HTML was all there was. I wrote funny, raw, personal stories from my childhood as a way to mentally escape my failing relationship, and people loved them. Those authentic shares resonated so deeply that the “blog” eventually became a book.
And here I am again, feeling pulled back to that place. To the authentic shares. To the depth of words over the :15-second world of social media reels. Because honestly, the trolls, the algorithms, the endless noise, the saturation—it’s the exact opposite of what 7 Primal Wounds is all about. That book is about restoring connection, not feeding disconnection.
A Risky Pivot
So here’s what I’ve decided:
I’m scaling back on the noise. Instead of dancing for algorithms, I’ll post static content on socials—quotes from the book, a few photos here and there. Just enough to keep the lights on. But the real journey? That’s going offline (you know 2025 offline).
My book tour will be an old-school, human-first adventure. Risky? Absolutely. Especially in a world that insists the only way forward is digital. But I’m trusting that connection—real, face-to-face connection—is still worth the risk.
I’ll be sending an email updates to my mailing list while I'm on the aerial book tour. Think of it as my daily postcard from the road. And if you want to follow along in real time, you’ll be able to track my journey on PolarSteps, where I’ll post little updates from each stop.
What’s Coming Next
This “community” won’t stop with the tour. I'll be sharing on email the HEART behind 7 Primal Wounds, and I plan to expand it into something much bigger—Zoom calls, tangible tools, spaces where we can actually talk and share. For now, though, I’m pouring my energy back into where I’ve always done best: the written word, shared intimately.
An Invitation
If this resonates with you—if you’re also tired of the noise and craving something real—then come along for the ride.
Go to 7PrimalWounds.com and drop your email in the Life Flight Log - ejournal. That’s where you’ll get the inside scoop, the daily notes from the road, and the behind-the-scenes journey of bringing this book into the world.
Because maybe the best way forward isn’t about chasing algorithms.
Maybe it’s about chasing connection.
