I Always Said I’d Know I Made It When My Books Hit Airport Shelves

April 1, 2026

I’ve said this for years—when my books are in airport bookstores, I’ll know I made it. Not because it sounds impressive. Because it’s hard.

Airport bookstores don’t have space for “pretty good.” They don’t carry everything. They’re selective, competitive, and practical. Every book on that shelf earned its spot.

And here’s the truth.

This isn’t my first book. It’s not even close. I’ve written nine before this. And if I’m being honest—they weren’t good enough. Not for that shelf. Not for the level of impact I wanted to have.

That’s not easy to say, but it’s true.

What most people don’t see is the iteration. The years of refining ideas. The evolution of your voice. The uncomfortable realization that what you created before… isn’t it. And instead of defending it, you go back to work.

That’s the part most people avoid. Because it requires humility, patience, and a willingness to not arrive when you thought you would.

7 Primal Wounds is the first time I’ve written something and thought—this belongs there.

Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s clear. It’s grounded. It actually helps people understand why they’re stuck—and what to do about it. It’s built from fifteen years of real work. Not theory. Not trends. Patterns I’ve watched repeat over and over again until I could finally put language to them.

I’m the kind of person who’s always been on a round racetrack. You cross a finish line, and there’s another one coming around in four seconds. No pause. No real moment to take it in. Just keep going. Always onto the next thing. Always building. Always pushing.

If I’m honest, I’ve never really let myself celebrate.

Not this time.

This one’s different. Because I know what it took to get here. I know how many times I had to admit something wasn’t there yet and go back to do it better. I know the focus it required. The discipline. The willingness to step away and build something real.

So I’m taking this one in.

Airports are full of people in transition. Leaving something. Heading toward something. In between who they’ve been and who they’re becoming. That’s exactly who this book is for.

And now it will be there.

You’ll see it in places like Washington DC (DCA), Palm Springs (PSP), Kansas City (MCI), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Denver (DEN), San Francisco (SFO), New York (LGA, Penn Station, Moynihan Train Hall), Orlando (MCO), Newark (EWR), and Salt Lake City (SLC).

We’re one week from launch.

This didn’t come from one big break. It came from getting better. From being willing to admit when something wasn’t there yet—and doing the work to change that.

I always said I’d know I made it when my books hit airport shelves.

Not because it means I’ve arrived—but because it means I finally built something strong enough to belong there.

And for once, I’m letting myself stand at the finish line for a minute.

I had the AMAZING opportunity of being interviewed by Joe at Advantage on the backstory behind the book, I'd love for you to check it out!
